College of Wooster's State-of-the-Art Scot
Center
About the Facility
In planning for many years, the College of Wooster dedicated its
sparkling new Scot Center in January 2012. The innovative facility,
which encompasses 123,000 square feet, will serve students as well
as inter-collegiate athletes. The Scot Center's main attraction is
the fieldhouse which boasts a new state-of-the-art NCAA regulation
200-meter track. The College, after an exhaustive study, chose
Kiefer and Mondo as its athletic surface provider for the new
facility.
A unique feature of the new building is the 20,000 square-foot
solar energy system, the largest of any college facility in the
United States. These panels generate 271,000 kilowatt hours of
electricity per year. The $30 million facility broke bround for
construction in May of 2010. Bogner Construction Management Company
was the builder of the new facility.
What the Customer Has to Say
Keith D. Beckett, Ph.D., Director of Physical Education,
Athletics, and Recreation at the College of Wooster said, "we
wanted the Scot Center to be impressive in appearance and
innovative design as well as by what it delivers in technology and
recreation, training, and competition space for our entire campus
community now and going forward." Beckett adds, "Our selection of
Mondo SX by Kiefer helped contribute to this reality. We have found
that the quality of Mondo's products and Kiefer's craftsmanship is
unmatched in the sports industry."
